Wasn't it so nice in LDT when you could EASILY bring in your zero cut-fill line just by entering zeros for the elevations of your volume surface. Now it is ALMOST as easily accomplished in Civil 3D.
What you want to do set the major contour interval to a larger value than the difference between the lowest cut and highest fill. For instance, if the lowest cut is -5 and highest fill is 5, then set the interval to 11 and turn on only the major contour but leave minor contour off.
Good luck!!!

hi, I just got civil 3D 2010 and was very proficient with LandDesktop. I made a square pad at elevation 1230' and graded it at 2:1 to a surface I built from survey data. I can't find the entity that allows me to inquiry how much cut and fill it required. It used to be so simple with LDD.
thanks, bkunz@vtcjv.com
In order to find the volumes you need to create a surface out of the grading object and compare it to your existing.
